A delegation led by the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Anar Karimov paid an official visit to Georgia on July 6-9
During the visit, the Minister met with Georgian Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth Tea Tsulukiani, Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze, Parliament Speaker Kakha Kuchava and Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili. The issues of strengthening cultural cooperation between the two countries were discussed at the meetings.
The visit began with a visit to the monument of the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev and the laying of a wreath.
The Minister also visited the pantheon of prominent Azerbaijanis in the Botanical Garden of Tbilisi, laid flowers at the graves of the founders of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic - Fatali Khan Khoyski, Hasan bey Agayev, great writers - Mirza Fatali Akhundov and his family members, Mirza Shafi Vazeh. The Minister also visited the bust of Bulbul, the founder of the Azerbaijan Vocal School, and laid a wreath in front of it.
During the visit, Anar Karimov also visited the Mirza Fatali Akhundov Azerbaijan Cultural Center and the Nariman Narimanov Memorial Museum, and got acquainted with the condition of Jalil Mammadguluzadeh's house museum.
The Minister also met with Azerbaijani public and cultural figures of Georgia at the Cultural Center. The sides exchanged views on issues of concern to the Azerbaijani community in the field of culture.
In addition, Anar Karimov attended the official opening ceremony of the house museum of Ashig Kamandar, a prominent representative of the art of rhetoric, in the village of Kapanakchi, Marneuli, after renovation. He also attended the event dedicated to the 880th anniversary of Nizami Ganjavi in Tbilisi and the awarding ceremony of the winners of the drawing contest dedicated to the great poet, announced by the Azerbaijani Embassy in Georgia. He also visited the Georgian National Museum, Bolnisi Museum and Tea House in Marneuli.
