Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Georgia Faig Guliyev met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Georgia Hubert Knirsch

On November 1, 2021, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Georgia Faig Guliyev met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Georgia Hubert Knirsch.

Welcoming the guest, Ambassador F.Guliyev briefed his German counterpart on Azerbaijan's policy in the region, including the formation of the strategic partnership with Georgia, a historically friendly neighbor to our country, their present and future prospects. He stressed that putting an end to the aggression against the Republic of Azerbaijan, to the occupation of our lands which has lasted for almost 30 years; the restoration of the country’s territorial integrity will bring positive changes not only for Azerbaijan but for the region as a whole.

For his turn, Ambassador H.Knirsch noted that Germany is following the developments in the South Caucasus with interest while Azerbaijan plays a leading role in the region. The German Ambassador expressed hope that the restoration of the internationally recognized borders of our country would create more favorable conditions for regional cooperation. He stressed the significance of the huge energy and transport projects implemented in the South Caucasus and passing through Georgia under the initiative and substantial participation of Azerbaijan and spoke about the attention paid in the country he represents to the development of bilateral cooperation with Azerbaijan.

In this regard, the sides exchanged views on the existing relations between Azerbaijan and Germany, including the further development of mutually beneficial economic cooperation, as well as the partnership of both countries with Georgia. It was agreed that the new realities created in the region could give a new impetus to this cooperation.

At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed confidence that fruitful contacts will continue in the future.
