On April 18, 2022, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Georgia Faig Guliyev met with the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia Otar Shamugia

The sides noted that Azerbaijan and Georgia, two friendly and strategic partners, have established close cooperation in agriculture, food security and environmental protection, as well the importance of implementing new projects and the importance of bilateral visits in order to maintain and further strengthen the cooperation in these areas.

 

The sides also exchanged views on improving the legal framework in the fields of agriculture, food security and environmental protection and signing new draft agreements, as well as the legislative framework for the joint efficient use of the Kura River basin and transboundary waters. At the same time, the meeting discussed opportunities to increase the share of non-oil, especially agricultural products in bilateral trade, to promote the mutual participation of public and private sector representatives in international exhibitions and conferences in both countries.

The meeting noted that the two countries have always supported each other in difficult times, and in this regard, expressed solidarity and cooperation between our countries in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, against the background of the COVID-19 pandemic, including SOCAR's Georgia agro-diesel project. Satisfaction was expressed with the projects implemented to support local farmers.

 

The parties also noted the importance of the trilateral format of cooperation between Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey in agriculture and the environment, noting that the two countries have implemented a number of important projects in these areas, including hazelnut production, restoration of wildlife in the Caucasus, biodiversity conservation and others.
