Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Georgia Faig Guliyev met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Georgia İmamura Akira
On January 25, 2021, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Georgia Faig Guliyev met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Georgia Imamura Akira.
Welcoming the guest, Ambassador F. Guliyev sincerely congratulated his Japanese counterpart on the beginning of the mission in Georgia and wished him every success. Focusing on the recent processes in the region, he said that the end of the aggression against our country, to the occupation of our lands which has lasted for almost 30 years; the restoration of the country’s territorial integrity will bring positive changes not only for Azerbaijan but for the region as a whole.
For his part, Ambassador Imamura Akira stressed that the developing relations between Japan and Azerbaijan serve the interests of both peoples and the progress of the region in general. He underlined the important role of the South Caucasus in the East-West Transport Corridor and reaffirmed Japan's interest in taking advantage of these opportunities.
In this regard, the sides exchanged views on the further development of successful mutually beneficial cooperation between Azerbaijan and Japan, as well as cooperation between the two countries and Georgia. They expressed confidence that the new realities created in the region could give a new impetus to this cooperation.
At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed confidence that fruitful contacts will continue in the future.
