Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Georgia Faig Guliyev met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Swiss Confederation to Georgia Heidi Grau

On December 29, 2021, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Georgia Faig Guliyev met with the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Switzerland to Georgia Heidi Grau.

Welcoming the guest, Ambassador Guliyev wished his Swiss counterpart success in her mission in Georgia. Focusing on the recent processes in the region, he said that putting an end to the aggression against our country, to the occupation of our lands which has lasted for almost 30 years; the restoration of our territorial integrity will bring positive changes not only for Azerbaijan but for the region as a whole.

Ambassador H. Grau in her turn thanked for the warm welcome and said that the Azerbaijani Embassy is among the first ones she pays a courtesy visit after presenting the copy of her Credentials at the Georgian Foreign Ministry. In this regard, Ms. Grau recalled with pleasure that due to her previous diplomatic experience she had visited Baku as part of a delegation and was received by the Head of the State. She said that her country is following with interest the processes taking place in the South Caucasus, new political and logistical initiatives put forward after the end of the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict.

Highly appreciating the kind words addressed to Azerbaijan and the interest shown, Ambassador F. Guliyev gave a general description of the regional issues of interest to the guest. He described the strategic partnership and allied relations that Azerbaijan has developed with Georgia and Turkey as a key factor in the region's progress. He said Azerbaijan is interested in establishing peace with the Republic of Armenia in the post-conflict period in accordance with international law and norms, and in starting a new, more secure and stable period in the South Caucasus region as a whole.

At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed confidence that fruitful contacts will continue in the future.
