Ambassador Faig Guliyev met with Rector of Sukhumi State University Zurab Khonelidze

On June 25, 2021, Ambassador Faig Guliyev met with Rector of Sukhumi State University Zurab Khonelidze.
At the beginning of the meeting, Ambassador Faig got acquainted with the auditorium "Friends of Azerbaijan Club" established in 2012 at Sukhumi State University.
The ambassador said the embassy would support the further enrichment of the Azerbaijan corner created at Sukhumi State University. Rector Zurab Khonelidze thanked the Ambassador for his support, noting that students will be able to use the Azerbaijani audience more effectively in the coming academic year.
During the meeting between the ambassador and the rector, the sides exchanged views on the development of cooperation between Sukhumi State University and higher education institutions of Azerbaijan.
The ambassador thanked Z. Khonelidze for the great importance and support he attached to relations with our country, and said that relations between Sukhumi State University and the Embassy would continue to develop.
Then Ambassador Faig Guliyev met with professors and teachers of Sukhumi State University.
Guliyev noted that the embassy pays great attention to science and education, as well as other areas, and cooperation between Georgia and the Republic of Azerbaijan, a strategic partner, is developing in all directions.
Speaking about the 44-day Patriotic War, the ambassador noted that the Republic of Azerbaijan had restored its territorial integrity and informed about the reconstruction work carried out in our liberated territories. The ambassador thanked the Georgian state and people for their solidarity on the eve of the Patriotic War.
Speaking later, Rector Z. Khonelidze expressed satisfaction with the visit of the Ambassador of the victorious and brotherly country to the University, and expressed confidence that the Georgian-Azerbaijani relations, based on historical roots, will continue to develop for the benefit of our peoples.
Speaking later, the historian of Sukhumi State University, Professor Guram Marxulia noted that the liberation of Karabakh from Armenian occupation was the result of the far-sighted policy of the Glorious Army of Azerbaijan and its Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev. He said that after the Patriotic War, he visited the liberated territories with the support of the Embassy.
Rector Z. Khonelidze and professors and teachers of the University noted the importance of the Ambassador's visit to Sukhumi State University on the eve of June 26 - the Day of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
