Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Georgia Faig Guliyev met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Georgia Akbar Gasemi Aliabadi

On December 23, 2020, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Georgia Faig Guliyev met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Georgia Akbar Gasemi Aliabadi.

Welcoming the guest, Ambassador F. Guliyev sincerely congratulated his Iranian counterpart on the beginning of his new mission in Georgia and wished him success in his activities. Focusing on the recent processes in the region, he said that the end of the aggression against our country, the occupation of our lands, the restoration of our territorial integrity, which has lasted for almost 30 years, will bring positive changes not only for Azerbaijan but for the whole region. During the conversation, Ambassador Guliyev recalled with satisfaction the gratitude of the Azerbaijani state and people for the solidarity and principled position of the Iranian state and people in the war waged by Azerbaijan.

Ambassador Akbar Gasemi Aliabadi stressed that the relations between Iran and Azerbaijan, built on a solid foundation, serve the interests of both friendly peoples. He congratulated the Republic of Azerbaijan on its glorious victory in the war for the restoration of territorial integrity and reiterated Iran's support for this just position.

In this regard, the sides exchanged views on the further development of good neighborly relations, mutually beneficial cooperation between Azerbaijan and Iran, as well as cooperation between the two countries and Georgia. At the same time, they noted the wonderful opportunities for multilateral cooperation in various formats in the South Caucasus region as a result of the elimination of Armenian aggression against Azerbaijan.

At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed confidence that fruitful contacts will continue in the future.
